A cleaning button is only part of ice-maker care

A cleaning button does a particular job

A dedicated cycle may circulate water or an approved solution through part of the machine. It does not wash every removable part, remove every mineral deposit or dry the appliance for storage. Read the exact procedure and finish its drainage and rinsing steps.

The AI-215 family documents a cleaning program; the NIM045SS00 describes an approximately twenty-minute self-cleaning cycle. The AI-100SS, NIM033 and NIM026MS00 current specifications list no dedicated cycle. Do not apply another model’s Clean-button sequence to them.

Separate scale from ordinary residue

Mineral deposits require the manufacturer’s descaling method where specified. Sanitizing and descaling can be different operations with different solutions and rinses. GE’s linked Ultra manual explicitly separates these tasks and gives procedures for different control-panel arrangements.

Use the exact product’s permitted solutions and directions. Never assume a universal mixture from another machine is compatible. When a current manual link is inaccessible, obtain the supplied instructions from the manufacturer before performing a detailed cleaning sequence.

Removable parts have their own permissions

The NIM026 nugget page identifies its removable basket and scoop as dishwasher-safe. That does not make the entire electrical appliance washable in a dishwasher or establish permission for every internal part. Follow the named-part instructions, clean accessible surfaces and keep the electrical body out of prohibited immersion.

Drain and dry before storage

Old water and damp components should not be left until the next party. Follow the drain procedure for the actual internal layout, clean the permitted parts and allow drying as directed. Keep the scoop clean and use suitable drinking water when restarting.

Choosing a cleaning cycle is a reasonable preference, but the most useful machine is one whose full care routine you can perform. Include sink access and the time to rinse and dry in the purchase decision.
