A useful fit for

For an earlier nugget maker when narrow body width and app control matter more than an included side tank.

The main tradeoff

No included tank; bin-weight sources conflict; earlier/discontinued status and exact unit condition require checking.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Is this an Opal nugget machine with Wi-Fi app support?

Yes. GE lists nugget ice and built-in Wi-Fi/SmartHQ for these Mini-family configurations. App scheduling does not refill water or empty the drawer.

Can its 36-pound daily claim meet a cool-condition requirement?

GE states up to 36 lb/day and 1.5 lb/hour at 70°F air and 60°F water. This is a manufacturer claim, not a measured result; no matching warm-condition rate is established here.

Does the included package meet the side-tank requirement?

No. P4NM20BZLG and P4NM20AZOG are base Mini packages without an included side tank.

What the Mini configuration is for

The GE Profile Opal Mini is a compact nugget-ice maker for a counter where the appeal is the small chewable texture, not a large built-in reservoir. This review groups two exact US machine SKUs that GE presents under the Mini name: P4NM20BZLG in Stone Grey and P4NM20AZOG in Charcoal Grey. Both are the base Mini configuration, not the Mini Pro package with a side tank. GE’s exact product pages captured on October 22, 2026 marked both models temporarily out of stock and no longer manufactured. Treat this as an earlier-model assessment, not a live inventory statement; availability can change.

The two finishes share the core documented setup: a manually filled lower reservoir, a removable ice drawer, nugget ice, push-button controls, and Wi-Fi/SmartHQ support. Their visible distinction is finish. There is also a small but meaningful control-panel difference: the linked manual specifically footnotes that P4NM20AZOG does not include an ice-bin light. Do not assume the light behavior from one suffix applies to the other, and confirm the exact suffix on any used or leftover unit.

Compact footprint, but measure the working space

GE lists the Mini body at about 8.6 inches wide, 15.6 inches deep, and 14.56 inches tall. That is the useful starting point for a narrow counter, but not the full setup allowance. The manual calls for four inches of clearance at each side and at the rear, a level indoor location, and protection from heat and direct sunlight. It gives an operating range of 55–90°F. Leave access to the rear drain as well as room above the drawer and water fill. A machine that fits between cabinets with no breathing space is not a proper fit.

The Mini has no included side tank in either P4NM20 package. It can be filled directly at the appliance; a separately sold compatible tank is a different accessory and should not be presumed included. The lower reservoir is documented as 2 liters and the upper funnel as 0.5 liters in the product information, but these are separate fill locations, not a reason to assume an uninterrupted automatic water connection. The Pro's side tank is a separate product configuration. If reducing refill trips is essential, compare the Mini Pro instead and account for its larger footprint.

Output claims are not stored ice

GE advertises up to 36 pounds per day and states 1.5 pounds per hour at 60°F water and 70°F ambient air, with first ice in about five minutes. These are manufacturer claims under the stated conditions, not independent measurements. A first piece arriving quickly does not mean the drawer is full quickly, and daily production is not a one-time amount sitting in the bin.

There is a material documentation conflict about bin weight. The exact product page lists a 2-pound bin, while the linked 52-page use-and-care manual gives 2.6 pounds as a series storage capacity. Because the manual covers several P4NM variants and does not resolve that exact-SKU discrepancy, this review does not treat either number as an established Mini basket weight. If you need a minimum stored mass at a particular moment, ask GE to confirm the exact P4NM20 suffix or compare a machine with an unambiguous bin specification. The bin is a collection drawer, not a freezer; meltwater returns to the water path, so use the ice promptly or move it to suitable frozen storage.

Care takes more than the clean button

The manual documents a clean cycle and Wi-Fi functions through SmartHQ, including scheduling, alerts, and updates. A clean button is useful but does not erase routine water-path maintenance. GE instructs owners to hand-clean the reservoirs about every three months or when changing the filter. The drawer, drip tray, and outside surfaces are also hand-cleaned. The manual calls for descaling at intervals affected by water hardness and describes a 55-minute descale followed by a three-minute rinse. A rear air filter is present only on select models; check the exact appliance and inspect/clean that filter about every two months if fitted.

When storing or moving the machine, the manual's drain procedure matters. Plan access to the rear and allow the machine to drain before it is left unused for days or relocated. Exact cleaning chemicals and sequence should come from the instructions supplied with the unit, not from a video for a different Opal generation.

How questionnaire choices change the fit

Choose nugget ice and the Mini remains relevant; require a documented 36-pound daily claim only when your expected room and water conditions match GE's 70°F/60°F pair. It should not be promoted as meeting a warm-condition production minimum because GE's exact page and manual do not provide a matched warm-condition figure for this Mini. An essential included-side-tank requirement rules it out: P4NM20BZLG and P4NM20AZOG are the base packages. App control is documented, but remote scheduling does not replenish water or empty a full drawer. A hard minimum basket weight cannot be evaluated confidently from the conflicting sources.

Choose the Mini when narrow body width and nugget texture matter more than a bundled tank, and you are comfortable with manual filling and regular care. Compare the Opal Mini Pro if a side tank is worth a wider arrangement; compare the current Euhomy Pearl machines if you need a current-production nugget alternative with explicit basket specifications. If you are considering one of these earlier Minis, verify the exact model suffix, condition, included drawer and power parts, water accessories, service options, and any seller return terms. This is a source-based fit assessment, not a hands-on test or a live stock recommendation.
