A useful fit for

For an earlier nugget maker where an included half-gallon side tank and SmartHQ matter, and the wider full-package footprint fits.

The main tradeoff

Tank adds space and hand-cleaning; top-fill funnel is not a top tank; bin-weight conflict and lifecycle remain material limits.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Is this an Opal nugget machine with Wi-Fi app support?

Yes. GE lists nugget ice and built-in Wi-Fi/SmartHQ for these Mini-family configurations. App scheduling does not refill water or empty the drawer.

Can its 36-pound daily claim meet a cool-condition requirement?

GE states up to 36 lb/day and 1.5 lb/hour at 70°F air and 60°F water. This is a manufacturer claim, not a measured result; no matching warm-condition rate is established here.

Does the included package meet the side-tank requirement?

Yes. The Mini Pro P4NM25 product pages list an included 0.5-gallon side tank; confirm exact suffix and package completeness.

The Mini Pro changes the water routine, not the ice texture

The GE Profile Opal Mini Pro is an earlier nugget-ice configuration that adds a side tank to the compact Mini concept. This assessment covers two exact US package codes: P4NM25QZSS, the stainless version with a stainless scoop, and P4NM25PZSG, the Stainless Steel/Gray version with a plastic scoop. Both pages identify a side tank and touch controls. The exact suffix still matters: the scoop material and finish differ, and the manufacturer product images show different package variants. GE’s exact product pages captured on October 22, 2026 marked both models temporarily out of stock and no longer manufactured; this is an earlier-model review, not a live inventory claim.

The side tank is the main functional reason to consider the Pro over the base P4NM20 Mini. It gives a larger water supply without plumbing and is specified at one-half gallon. It does not enlarge the ice drawer, eliminate draining, or preserve ice frozen. The tank is a separate hand-wash component: the manual says to flush it toward the front, keep it level with the machine, and use water only. You can position it to the left or right, but that flexibility still requires counter space and a routine for carrying, filling, and washing it.

Footprint and setup are package-level decisions

GE lists the complete Mini Pro package at about 11.6 inches wide, 15.6 inches deep, and 14.56 inches high. The manual's series dimensions list a narrower 8.59-inch machine body. Those are different measurement scopes: the product page describes the side-tank configuration while the manual dimension appears to describe the appliance body. Measure the tank, machine, drain path, and both sides of the installation rather than treating the body width as the full working footprint. The manual requires four inches of clearance at the sides and rear, a stable level indoor surface, and a 55–90°F environment away from heat and direct sunlight.

The Pro has capacitive touch controls, SmartHQ Wi-Fi features, and a top-fill funnel. That funnel is a way to add water at the top; it is not the same thing as a separate top-mounted water tank. The side tank remains the included supplemental reservoir. If a questionnaire asks for a particular kind of top tank, this documented funnel alone should not satisfy it. The exact web listing gives 0.5-liter upper and 2-liter lower reservoirs, alongside the half-gallon side tank. Keep those capacities and locations distinct when planning refill intervals rather than assuming that the advertised values form one measured continuous reservoir.

Production claims have conditions; the drawer capacity is unsettled

The product pages advertise up to 36 pounds per day and give 1.5 pounds per hour at 60°F water and 70°F ambient air, as well as first ice in about five minutes. Treat these as manufacturer-stated figures, not measured performance. The manual says the realized rate varies with the surroundings, and the source material does not provide a matched warmer-condition rate for these Mini Pro codes. If your essential minimum only works at high room temperatures, the published cool-condition claim cannot establish that fit.

There is no trustworthy exact bin-weight answer in the materials reviewed. Each product page gives a 2-pound storage bin, while the linked multi-model manual states 2.6 pounds as the series storage capacity. Since the manual does not resolve the precise P4NM25 suffix, the fact record leaves basket pounds unknown rather than choosing the more favorable figure. The drawer collects ice as it is produced; it is not a freezer compartment. Meltwater recirculates, so a side tank is about reducing water refills, not keeping a frozen reserve.

Routine care remains part of ownership

The manual describes a cleaning cycle, a 55-minute descaling cycle followed by a three-minute rinse, hand-cleaning the reservoirs around every three months or when changing the filter, and hand washing the drawer and drip tray. Descale frequency depends on water hardness. A reusable rear air filter is included only on select models; check the exact SKU before assuming a filter or maintenance interval applies. Wi-Fi scheduling and alerts can make production easier to manage, but they do not replace rinsing, draining, or emptying the drawer.

The machine needs room for rear drain access, and the side tank adds another part to empty and hand-wash. Before leaving it unused for several days or moving it, use the manual's drain steps. Follow the exact supplied instructions for cleaner, sanitizing, and rinsing; do not substitute an Ultra or older Opal procedure just because the controls look similar.

Which questionnaire answers favor the Pro?

Require nugget ice, app control, the stated cool-condition 36-pound daily claim, and an included side tank, and the Mini Pro matches those documented attributes. A narrow maximum width such as 10 inches excludes this full side-tank package even though the machine body is narrower. Selecting the base Mini can retain the nugget texture and app feature but loses the included tank. Neither Mini family can safely satisfy a strict minimum bin-weight requirement while the product-page/manual conflict remains unresolved.

Pick the Pro if you want fewer manual water refills and can dedicate the wider counter footprint, while accepting a second part to clean and an earlier-product support/availability check. Choose the standard P4NM20 Mini if its narrower body is the priority and a manual fill cadence is acceptable. For a current nugget comparison, see the Euhomy Pearl L1 Plus IM-16S and compare its exact basket units, water access, app functions, and operating plan rather than relying on the word “nugget” alone. If buying an earlier P4NM25, verify the suffix, scoop, side tank, touch panel, condition, drain pieces, and service terms. No noise measurement, reliability history, present price, or live inventory is asserted here.
